The Permanent Secretary

Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade
Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade has over 32 years’ experience as a practicing doctor in the health care sector spanning clinical, managerial, policy, and strategic planning. She had been involved in healthcare Management, Administration, Research, Hospital Design and Equipment Specification.
She holds the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1986) and came out as the Best Overall Graduating Student (MBBS, ABU Zaria 1986). She is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons – FWACS, Fellow of the Medical College in Otorhinolaryngology – FMCORL and Fellow of the International College of Surgeons and presently, Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers (FNSME).
She was a Director and Head of Health Services Department in the Ministry of Defence for four years preceding her appointment as a Permanent Secretary. She was appointed a Federal Permanent Secretary on 26th August, 2020 and became Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Mines and Steel Development. She was also appointed a member of the 5th National Stakeholders Working Group (NSWG) of the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (NEITI) Board by President Muhammadu Buhari.
She is an astute administrator and has been in charge of providing the enabling environment for the coordination of the activities of all Departments and Agencies under the Ministry in line with government set objectives for the Minerals and Metal Industry.
